In an era driven by social media hype, Miloh stands out as a DJ whose skills, patience, and respect for the craft speak louder than the algorithms.
Who Is Miloh?
Behind the decks, few can match the energy and precision of Masibulele Pika, better known as Miloh – DJ, producer, and Brand Ambassador for Soundwave Music Group. Based in Johannesburg and originally from Zweletemba in Worcester, Western Cape, Miloh has earned a reputation for blending afrotech, afrohouse, and 3step into high-energy, groove-filled sets that ignite every dance floor he steps onto.
Where It All Began
Miloh’s love affair with music began in 2009, guided by the timeless rhythms of house pioneers like Oskido, DJ Sbu, Black Coffee, DJ Fatkuk, and Mahoota. Growing up surrounded by rhythm and sound, he would record songs from the radio just to replay and study them. That early curiosity became passion when he discovered a friend’s Pioneer CDJ 100s — the gateway to his lifelong journey as a DJ. What began as experimentation quickly became an obsession. He practiced for hours, mastering beatmatching and seamless blending, even when it was difficult. “It was hard,” he admits, “but I pushed anyway because I wanted to perform.”
Sharpening the Craft
His dedication paid off. In 2012, Miloh took his craft to the next level by enrolling in the Soul Candi Institute of Music for formal training in music production and DJing. He soon became a local favorite at community clubs and events, gaining recognition for his intuitive crowd reading, deep selections, and floor-filling tracks. Drawing further inspiration from the global rise of electronic dance music through artists like David Guetta and Avicii, Miloh expanded his sound, incorporating multiple genres to connect with diverse audiences.
Stages, Spotlights & Shared Billing
From local clubs to larger venues and private events, Miloh built a name for delivering memorable, high-energy sets with seamless transitions and a unique, infectious groove. Today, he has shared stages with some of South Africa’s biggest acts, including Vigro Deep, DJ Maphorisa, Malumz on Decks, and Mafikizolo. His performances span Ibiza Stardust Radio, Nekkies Easter Music Festival, Bannister Hotel, Jojo Rooftop Lounge, Perere Sandton, Zorz Luxury Chisanyama, Cappello Newtown, and The View DJ Competition finals. Whether it’s an underground club, rooftop party, or main stage, Miloh brings a dynamic presence that always moves the crowd.
A Word to the Next Generation
As his journey continues, Miloh remains rooted in the values that shaped him: patience, discipline, and respect for the stage. He worries that many upcoming DJs rush the process, relying on social media more than skill. “Back then, you had to be really good to earn a stage,” he says. For Miloh, true DJ culture is about craft, not shortcuts — and his story is proof that dedication still matters in a fast-track world.
